Behavioral Medicine Associates

Founded in 1985 by Dr. Howard M. Rombom, a licensed psychologist, Behavioral Medicine Associates (BMA) provides psychological services in over 30 locations throughout the New York City Metropolitan area.

Behavioral Medicine Associates has, to date, focused its clinical efforts on the population of patients who have been involved in traumas. Specialized psychological services include evaluation, treatment, cognitive rehabilitation and pain management. BMA assists attorneys in preparing cases for trial, and has worked with insurance carriers to perform reviews of services and Independent Medical Examinations (IME's).

Keys to Our Success

The key to BMA's success in developing a patient base has been to establish offices together with medical providers. This arrangement places BMA in a position to attract patients and to strengthen relationships together with the medical community. In addition, by being "on-site", BMA maximizes patient compliance, by pairing medical services with psychological services, enabling patients to receive care in several specialties in the same visit.

Integrating psychology into an established medical setting enables psychology to gain acceptance, recognition and "standing" in the patient's eyes. The benefits of psychological care, therefore, have been offered to a population not typically served by this discipline.

Additional Services

In addition to providing comprehensive, quality care, BMA has excelled in billing and collecting, the fundamental business need for any health care practice. Using aggressive techniques, BMA has established itself as a leader in psychology collections, with name recognition among the insurance carriers billed. Dr. Rombom has been a pioneer in providing care to this population, and has been successful in demonstrating need and effectiveness to the insurance industry.
