Providing Psychological Care at the Physician's Office

Behavioral Medicine Associates (BMA) provides psychological care to patients for specific medical problems at the offices of their treating physicians. This approach to behavioral treatment is unique, cost effective, and a departure from traditional psychology practice. The vast majority of behavioral care provided in this country is performed in private psychology offices, detached from the patient’s health care.

Treatment is fragmented, isolated, and poorly received by the majority of the population as well as by the medical establishment, and by insurance carriers.

There are numerous medical problem areas that require patients to return to their treatment setting on a regular basis. The problems for which these patients are being treated also have psychological or "behavioral" components which require treatment. The synergistic effect of traditional medical care/rehabilitation with behavioral treatment results in better outcomes, more significant gains, and ultimately, cost savings. This program of behavioral care is problem-specific; treatment is provided directly for the area of concern, and may include evaluation, therapy, education, and support. BMA will utilize recent advances in interactive technology to provide services and to reach patients who otherwise could not benefit from these services.

Expanding Our Service Areas

BMA has developed a proven method of reaching thousands of patients with an effective program of psychological care directed at problems related to trauma. Using a central administrative office and a network of satellite sites, BMA has been effective in expanding without major capital expenses. This system is being expanded into other areas of the country and adapted to other areas of medical care.

Behavioral Medicine Associates is seeking to expand its service areas, both geographically and clinically. Our goal is to establish BMA as the leader in on-site problem-specific psychological services.

A Business Program with Managed Growth

BMA, a registered business name of Howard M. Rombom, Ph.D., P.C., has experienced steady growth since its inception in 1985. Dr. Howard Rombom, the founder and director, is responsible for the growth of this organization and has developed the management, collections, and marketing approaches which will enable it to succeed in this planned expansion.

The success of a health care practice is dependent on several variables that are unrelated to the actual service itself. These include reimbursement issues, patient compliance, referral patterns, and professional staff management. BMA currently has a business program which enables continuous growth which is controlled, profitable and effective.
